The Production Planner at a CDMO biotech organization is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the production of biotech products in line with client demands, regulatory requirements, and operational capabilities. The role involves collaboration across various teams including project management, quality assurance, supply chain, maintenance & validation, and quality control, ensuring that the production process runs smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule. The Production Planner will report to the Associate Production Director.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer demand and capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate with project management to align production timelines and ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure alignment with manufacturing processes, including raw material availability and equipment capacity.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure the availability of necessary raw materials, components, and consumables.
  • Monitor inventory levels and work with the supply chain to ensure just-in-time delivery of materials.
  • Ensure that production resources (labor, equipment, and facilities) are appropriately allocated to meet demand.
  • Analyze production capacity and adjust schedules accordingly to optimize resources and minimize downtime.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams, including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Operations, to ensure smooth production processes.
  • Address production issues and bottlenecks promptly, proposing corrective actions and solutions.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and collaborate with the team to implement changes that improve efficiency.
  • Provide updates on production progress and potential delays to management, monitor and report on key performance metrics such as production efficiency, downtime, and yield.
  • Prepare production reports for internal stakeholders and management, ensuring transparency and communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Supply Chain Management, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing or biotech environment, preferably in a CDMO setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with planning tools and ERP is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and drive change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
