Job description
Are you familiar with the world of procurement and looking to develop yourself further as a Junior Buyer? Or are you new to this field but eager to take your first steps?
As a Junior Buyer, you will be directly involved in the procurement of our commercial products and contribute to our growth ambitions, making a real impact within a fast-growing organization. Interested? Keep reading, because you might be our next team member!
As our Junior Buyer, you will have the opportunity to help build a rapidly growing organization and contribute to the professionalization of the Product & Procurement department. In your role, you will support the team in creating and managing strategic relationships with suppliers.
What will you do?
In this role, you will develop towards becoming an experienced procurement professional. When you start, your focus will be on supporting and coordinating procurement activities, such as:
- Maintaining contact with suppliers via email and phone
- Collaborating with colleagues in project management
- Aligning with colleagues on procurement pricing
- Coordinating the administrative side of the procurement process
- Placing orders and monitoring the progress of purchase orders and invoices
In addition to the above, where we will guide, support, and train you, you will be involved in end-to-end procurement processes. This will give you full exposure and allow you to gradually grow into a tactical buyer role. This includes:
- Defining procurement needs
- Selecting product suppliers
- Requesting and evaluating quotations and negotiating terms
- Making pricing agreements and managing contracts
These more tactical responsibilities will initially form a small part of your role but will expand over time, depending on your development. To support your growth, you will have the opportunity to follow a NEVI procurement training program together with your colleagues.
Your profile
What are we looking for in our new colleague?
You are proactive, not afraid to think critically, and have the ambition to continuously develop yourself. You are motivated to grow with the organization, and throughout your career at Emsere you will be coached by the Global Manager Product Procurement and supported by more experienced colleagues within the Product & Procurement team.
Some experience in an administrative role and familiarity with working in an ERP system are considered a plus. You have strong communication skills in English. You are available for 32 to 40 hours per week and are willing to be regularly present at our office in Leiden.
Why us?
The team
You will be part of a team of 8 colleagues, including yourself. One of your colleagues is based in the US and the rest is in the Netherlands, and the team reports to the Global Manager Product & Procurement (based in Leiden). Your Dutch colleagues have flexible working patterns and are typically present at our Leiden office 2–3 times per week.
The position of the department
Our procurement department has a more commercial focus than most other procurement teams. Where other organizations may focus on facilities or production support, our team is actively involved in introducing new products and continuously improving and optimizing the current assortment that our Project Management colleagues offer to clients.
What do we offer?
A great workplace within a fast-growing organization, combined with a familiar and informal culture. We offer flexibility to work from home (where possible and in consultation), a travel or home working allowance, an internet allowance, and 30 vacation days based on a 40-hour work week.
You will have plenty of opportunities to develop yourself and grow within the company. In addition, you will have the opportunity to follow a NEVI procurement training program together with your colleagues, fully funded by Emsere.
