Electrical Engineer – Mentor Medical Systems (J&J)
Role Overview
You will act as the subject matter expert in electrical engineering, contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement of systems, processes, and safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
- Act as the electrical subject matter expert (SME) for site operations.
- Ensure safe operation, inspection, maintenance, and modification of electrical installations in accordance with NEN 3140, NEN 1010, and internal standards.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical failures and operational deviations.
- Ensure electrical work permits, LOTO (Lock-Out Tag-Out), and contractor activities are executed safely and in compliance with regulations.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
Project Delivery
- Support and contribute to the electrical scope of capital and improvement projects from concept through handover.
- Review and approve electrical designs, specifications, calculations, and technical drawings.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with engineering standards, EHS requirements, budget, and timelines.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external engineering partners.
- Support commissioning, qualification, and handover of electrical systems to operations.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with local legislation (including NEN standards), internal engineering standards, and EHS policies.
- Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and safety reviews related to electrical systems.
- Maintain and update technical documentation, asset registers, and electrical dossiers.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve reliability, energy efficiency, and maintainability of electrical systems.
- Support standardization initiatives and share best practices across the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Mandatory certification/appointment as Installation Responsible (IV) under NEN 3140; knowledge of NEN 1010 is preferred.
- Several years of experience in an industrial, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience supporting both operations and capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems.
- Experience working with contractors and within regulated environments.

- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrix organization.
- Strong communication skills in both English and Dutch.
- Experience in a GMP-regulated environment is considered an advantage.
