We are looking for a dedicated Commodity Buyer to support our launcher production operations in Leiden. This is an initial 6-month contract with the potential to extend up to 18 months. We welcome applications from both direct candidates and freelance professionals.
As the primary procurement lead for launcher production, you will act as the strategic backbone of the supply chain. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of high-priority technical supplies, including fasteners, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and essential site materials.
Your mission is to balance cost-efficiency with uncompromising technical standards, ensuring every component is available exactly when needed to keep production moving.
Responsibilities
- You will define and execute the commodity strategy for fasteners and GSE. This means you will lead the bid, tender, and selection process for high-reliability suppliers.
- You will negotiate master service agreements and one-off contracts. You will manage claims, waivers, and renewals with support from the legal specialists.
- You will lead the Supplier Account Team. You will evaluate the performance, mitigate risks, and develop strategic partnerships to ensure priority during supply chain volatility.
- You will act as the procurement link between the Head of Procurement and the Launcher Program Managers, providing real-time reporting on status, costs, and risks.
- You will ensure the continuous functioning of the production site by managing all direct procurement requirements beyond the core flight hardware.
Requirements
- You have at least a Bachelor’s degree or HBO-level qualification.
- You are an excellent negotiator; you don't only negotiate price, you also negotiate lead times, quality gates, and risk-sharing.
- You can maintain optimal stock levels—ensuring production never stops while keeping financial overhead lean.
- You can speak the language of engineers regarding specifications for fasteners and GSE.
- You uphold a big commitment to the rigorous safety and ethical standards essential to the Aerospace sector.
