For our service development department, we are looking for candidates for the position of:

Bioinformatics System Administrator

(32 – 40 hours per week)

What will you be doing?

As a Bioinformatics System Administrator, you play a key role in both data analysis and the optimization of bioinformatics infrastructure. You will:

Perform bioinformatics analyses for commercial projects and manage timelines

Develop and optimize pipelines and tools, including code review and testing

Maintain and improve Linux-based bioinformatics infrastructure (HPC)

Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with external partners

Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with standards

Drive continuous improvements and support knowledge sharing within the team

Who are you?

To ensure a good match, we kindly ask that you only apply if you meet the following essential criteria:

You have completed a Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics or related field, plus 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a commercial setting.

Strong experience with Linux (including system administration and HPC environments)

Proficiency in programming/scripting (e.g. Python, R, or similar)

Experience with bioinformatics tools and NGS data analysis

Hands-on experience with pipeline development (e.g. Nextflow)

Familiarity with GIT version control and software development best practices

Understanding of data security, quality standards, and validation processesYou are based within 35 km from our Leiden office
