For our operations department, we are looking for candidates for the position of:

Analyst/ Lab Technician

(32 – 40 hours per week)

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tasks, including the execution, coordination, and optimization of molecular biology laboratory procedures. We work with both Next Generation Sequencing and Sanger sequencing technologies. Your work will form the foundation for important decisions made by our clients.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Receiving and registering client projects and samples, and performing quality control checks on incoming samples

Conducting analyses depending on the type of sample received, such as: Isolating and purifying DNA/RNA
Cultivating, identifying, typing, and detecting microorganisms
Preparing and purifying Sanger Sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing, fragment analysis reactions, and (RT-)PCR reactions

Analyzing data and preparing analysis reports

Supporting and contributing ideas to the continuous improvement of our quality and work processes

In addition, there is the opportunity to take on an extra role or responsibility, such as coordinating lab operations or quality management, serving as a company emergency response officer (BHV), or acting as an internal auditor

Who are you?

To ensure a good match, we kindly ask that you only apply if you meet the following essential criteria:

You have completed a Bachelor’s degree (HLO) in molecular biology, microbiology, or a related field. Experience in a similar role is a plus

You have experience working in compliance with quality systems (ISO 17025, ISO 27001 and/or GMP) in a commercial setting

You are based within 35 km from our Leiden office

From a personality perspective, you are a great match if you recognize yourself in the following following personality traits:

You have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and are fluent in and English. Speaking Dutch is a preference

You are enthusiastic, precise, flexible, and have a hands-on, can-do mentality

You perform well under deadline pressure, are result-oriented, and can work both independently and as part of a team
