In collaboration with a global biopharmaceutical client in Leiden, we are looking for a Senior Automation Technician for the Engineering, Validation & Maintenance department.
ROLE
-
Primarily responsible for the operational availability of our Automation System (e.g., Building Management System (Desigo CC) and Monitoring systems (EMS)) and related maintenance activities.

You will oversee external contractors during maintenance and project execution, ensuring safe work habits in designated area.

You will report directly to the Senior Manager EVM with a dotted line to the Functional Lead Automation.

Your technical focus will be on Automation/IT, but also includes electrical components related to automation control I/O cabinets and quality/compliance aspects of certain systems.

You will use SAP-based CMMS (SAP) software to plan, record, and close work orders, maintenance logs, and spare part usage.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor the health of automation systems and perform preventive/corrective maintenance as needed.

Set up work permits, switching plans, and instructions required for maintenance and inspections.

Guide third parties in executing preventive/corrective maintenance activities.

Act as the first point of contact for operational automation activities within the department.

Perform first-line troubleshooting for automation system issues, including electrical control/I/O cabinets.

Detect operational deviations or irregularities in automation systems.

Participate in on-call service (approximately 1 week every 6 weeks).

Follow protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with EHS and Q standards.

Support departmental improvement and modification projects.

Ensure safety compliance on the shop floor.
PROFILE
-
MBO (level 4) in Electronics, Automation, IT, or a related field.
-
2-4 years of work experience in a technical support organization, preferably in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or the process industry.

Electrical knowledge to perform initial diagnostics and resolve breakdowns.

4+ years of experience in Automation/IT.

Experience working with internal and external departments (IT, operations, quality, engineering, and maintenance) on projects or tasks.

Proven expertise in BMS (Building Management System) and EMS (Environmental Monitoring System), particularly Siemens (Desigo CC).

Experience maintaining Process Automation platforms such as SCADA/Delta-V, Siemens S7, OsiSoft, OPC (PIMS) is a plus.

Awareness of compliance regulations, such as computer system validation or GAMP (a plus).

Additional training certificates such as NEN3140, VCA full are desirable.
