Your new role

This is an entry-level position in which you will perform laboratory operations under supervision. Your daily duties consist of making measurements, performing several routine quantitative and qualitative tests according to standard procedures (SOPs). You will assist in writing protocols and appropriate documentation in the laboratory system. You will also perform routine and safety program checks and preventive maintenance and calibration on instruments. As a Lab Technician, you will do routine Microbiology testing of water, pulp and paper and deposits using serial dilution, spread plate and pour plate techniques. On top of this, you will do microbial enumeration and data entry into the LIMS. Finally, you will be assisting the Microbiologists and Senior Technicians with Biocide Efficacy Studies and Efficacy testing on products.

What you’ll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have a completed MBO in Life Sciences (MLO) or related field.

  1. Previous industry experience would be considered a plus, but not mandatory.
  2. Ability to work in a team and also as an individual contributor to completing required tasks.
  3. Ability to present a high level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  4. Show a willingness to learn and work in a dynamic environment.
  5. Fluency in English in both verbal and written communication is required. Dutch is considered a plus, but definitely not a must.

What you’ll get in return

This project starts with a 12-month contract via Hays, with the intention of converting to a direct contract with the client afterward. We can offer a competitive salary package with a base salary ranging from €2400 to €3100 based on 32–40 hours per week depending on your availability. On top of that, your travel expenses will be covered.
