The Opportunity:

Avantor is currently on the lookout for a motivated Lab Support Technician to join the team in Leiden . In this role, you have diverse responsibilities such as maintaining lab equipment, cleaning freezers, handling chemical waste and much more! This is a full-time position based at our customer site, with location in Leiden, in the Biosciences Parc. You will receive a contract for 1 year, transferred into a permanent one after a positive evaluation. Working hours:

Monday to Friday, flexible start time between 08:30 and 09:00 and finish time as of 16:00

The team 

Together with your seven colleagues, you are part of a supportive, small team, belonging to our department Lab and Product Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.

What we’re looking for 

  • MBO3 or 4 lab studies is preferred, depending on experience
  • Lab experience is an asset
  • Good basic skills in MS Office, in particular with MS Excel 
  • Effective communication in English
  • Outgoing, customer minded, and responsible
  • How you will thrive and create an impact 

  • Maintain lab equipment by executing cleaning duties, emptying, and disinfecting equipment such as freezers and incubators
  • Calibrate and verify lab equipment such as PH-meters, balances and pipets
  • Create media, solutions, and buffers for QC testing in the lab
  • Prepare and process reagents and buffers for testing
  • Keep track of inventory and stock levels of key materials
  • Record all work in accordance with GMP guidelines
  • Work according to procedures and regulatory requirements
