The Opportunity:
Under close supervision, provide direct benchtop services support at customer facilities. Execute routine laboratory support procedures and preparations (e.g. media/buffer prep, solvent/reagent mixtures, filtrations, material weighing, some physical testing, witness senior staff experiments). Maintain lab inventory and labeling (e.g. chemical reagents, glassware, gas cylinder levels). Verification/maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g. balances, pH meters, sonicator cleaning, glass washing).
Avantor is currently on the lookout for a motivated Lab Services Technician to join the team in Leiden. In this role, you have diverse responsibilities such as maintaining lab equipment, preparing chemical solutions, and much more! This is a full-time position based at our customer site, with location in Leiden, in the Biosciences Park. You will receive a contract for 1 year, with the possibility of being transferred into a permanent contract after a positive evaluation. Working hours: Monday to Friday, flexible starting hours between 7:30 – 8:30
The team
Together with your eight colleagues, you are part of a supportive, small team, belonging to our department Lab and Production Services. This department within Avantor supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories globally, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we’re looking for
Education: MBO3 or 4 lab studies are preferred, depending on experience
Experience: in a lab environment is a great asset; this can also be from a student job, internship or practical courses
Preferred qualifications:
- Good basic skills in MS Office, in particular with MS Excel
- Effective communication skills in English
- Outgoing, customer minded, and responsible
- Motivated, detail oriented and a team player
How you will thrive and create an impact
- Maintain, calibrate and verify lab equipment such as pH meters, balances and pipets
- Clean the lab environment and lab equipment
- Create media, solutions, and buffers for QC testing in the lab
- Keep track of inventory and stock levels of lab materials
