Role & Job Purpose:

Responsible to establish the visibility of Batavia Biosciences in the European market and to implement and perform a structured sales process to grow the R&D business portfolio and client base.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Generate leads and orders from various Companies;
  • Expand commercial cooperation in good and professional spirit with existing clients. Managesthe commercial processfrom the first contact and including the contractual negotiations.
  • Generate new sales opportunities and further expanding opportunities through intensive networking and representation to events and conferences.
  • Responsible to meet regionalyearly sales targets;
  • Support Operations and Project Management on repeated business.
  • Identify potentialand generate leads/orders related to the Portfolio of the company;
  • Maintain long term relationships with strategic customers;
  • Deliver high quality proposals, in full alignmentwith the Bataviacustomer intimacy ambition and ultimately the negotiation of the final contract;
  • Maintain and develop corporateimage, reputation, protectand develop the company’s brand via suitable PR activities;
  • Interact and collaborate with other departments;
  • Write (grant) proposals, in close cooperation with the operations department, which meet the customers’ technical and economicrequirements and ultimately the negotiation of final contracts;
  • Focus on Customer Intimacy;
  • Align with Project Management organization the writingof Work orders;.

Leadership

  • Work closelywith Operations and Project Management organization to develop and accomplish goals and strategic plans established by the executive management;
  • Develop and implement operational procedures, processes and systems in line with BBS Leiden to make further development and growth possible;
  • Analyze trendsin the market and customerportfolio in closecooperation with Marketing to ensure the accuracy of the tactical sales plan.

Professional requirements:

  • At least a B.S.c. degree within Life Sciences or a related study direction. An advanced degree (MBA, Ir. or Ph.D.) is preferred;
  • At least 5+ years of experience in business development with a proven track record;
  • Experience with working in Pharma/Biotech, with a strong network within R&D;
  • Excellent relationship-building, presentation, and communications skills;
  • Energetic self-starter, results-oriented and the ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment;
  • Passionate and self-motivated to assist with driving deals to a successful conclusion and to deliver quality results;
  • The ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences, combined with proven negotiation skills;
  • Clear understanding of the buying cycles that are driving the decision-making process for customers;
  • Excellent analytical skills to understand market dynamics, determine appropriate strategies, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement;
  • Used to work in an international environment;
  • Fluent in English (both verbally and written), additional languages (German, Dutch, Spanish) are preferred;
