Job Title: Automation Engineer – Execution Systems (PLC/SCADA)
About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join the Execution Systems (MAM-ES) department at our pharmaceutical manufacturing site, , located in Leiden. This position plays a key role in the maintenance, enhancement, and lifecycle management of critical automated systems in a GMP-regulated environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and commission changes to Siemens PLC and SCADA systems on manufacturing equipment in coordination with system owners and vendors.
- Manage external vendors, subcontractors, and system integrators for project and maintenance work.
- Lead and/or coordinate automation changes as part of a broader automation engineering team.
- Develop, execute, and review commissioning protocols, test plans, and technical documentation to implement, maintain, and validate automation systems.
- Maintain and update life cycle documentation in compliance with GxP requirements.
- Author and revise SOPs, work instructions, and functional/system specifications.
Requirements:
- HBO or higher technical degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with demonstrated knowledge of GAMP (Good Automated Manufacturing Practice).
- 3–5 years of experience with Siemens PLC (TIA Portal) and SCADA systems (Wonderware preferred).
- Proficient in writing and interpreting functional requirement specifications and control philosophies.
- Working knowledge of OSI-PI Historian is a plus.
- Strong understanding of P&IDs and industrial instrumentation/control systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills in both Dutch and English.
- Certifications required: VCA and NEN 3140.
